The Wayne-Sanderson Farms’ broiler processing plant located in Tyler, Texas, has been named as the USPOULTRY Clean Water Award winning plant for 2023 in the Full Treatment Category. U.S. poultry processing facilities in this category must consistently meet a series of wastewater effluent permit parameter limits prior to discharging fully treated wastewater directly back into the environment.

The Tyler, Texas, wastewater treatment facility operators clean the 1.5 million gallons of process wastewater each day so effectively that the fully treated effluent can be either directly discharged to the Sabine River or applied to land by spray irrigation at a rate allowing water to percolate through the soil before recharging the local water table.
