High school and college students who have demonstrated leadership in academics and in their community will each receive a $5,000 scholarship funded by Scoular’s CEO Paul Maass and his wife, Julie.

Scoular announced on Monday the five recipients of the Paul & Julie Maass Scholarship, a program launched two years ago.

Selection was based upon a variety of factors, including need, leadership in academics and the community, and grade point average, with preference to those demonstrating compassion and community service. Among the recipients: Science Olympian, National Honor Society and leadership program members and participants in activities ranging from marching band to 4-H.

“I am so inspired by these talented young leaders, their achievements and the ways they give back to their communities,” Paul Maass said. “My wife, Julie, and I are passionate about education and excited we can express our gratitude to our dedicated employees by providing these scholarships. Congratulations to this year’s recipients and their parents.”

The recipients are:

  • Hailie Deeble (mother, Wendy Eis, operator, Seward, Nebraska.) Hailie is attending Wayne State College, Wayne, Nebraska
  • Kiley McDonough (mother, Kelly Mangold, accounting assistant, Omaha) Kiley is attending Grandview University, Des Moines, Iowa
  • Conner Peck (mother, Diana Peck, merchandiser assistant, Salina, Kansas.) Conner is attending Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas
