Bunge officially opened its new soy protein concentrate facility in Morristown, marking the first food-grade plant of its kind built in the United States in more than four decades.
The facility is the largest soy protein concentrate operation in the country and the only one dedicated to food-grade production. Congressman Jefferson Shreve joined state and local leaders for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the milestone.
The operation uses advanced technologies to produce PurePro high-purity soy protein concentrates that are ultra clean-tasting and light-colored, addressing long-standing customer challenges with plant protein ingredients such as earthy flavors and dull appearance.
Connecting farmers to global markets
The facility connects Indiana soybean farmers to new value-added markets worldwide and is designed to help brands of any size grow with rising protein demand. It features cutting-edge automation, robotics and an extensive warehouse with multiple loadouts.
PurePro is offered in non-GMO and conventional formats, as well as powdered and textured varieties. The ingredient is ideal for higher-protein applications across processed meat, plant-based meat, bakery, cereals, snacks, beverages, animal nutrition and feed products.
Workforce expansion supports community
Over the past year, more than 70 new team members have joined Bunge at the Morristown location. Together they are transforming Indiana-grown soybeans into high-quality ingredients for global customers.
The facility represents more than manufacturing capacity, according to company officials. It represents innovation rooted in agriculture and the strength of partnership between global markets and local communities.
Bunge has been part of the Morristown community for more than 25 years. The new facility supports the company’s purpose to connect farmers to consumers to deliver essential food, feed and fuel to the world.
The investment reflects Bunge’s commitment to farmers, customers, communities and the evolving needs of food manufacturers worldwide.
