Delta Grain, a grain elevator and merchandiser, is expanding its Sidon facility with a $3.76 million investment to build a ground pile and conveyance system. The project will add 2.15 million bushels of new capacity, improving logistical efficiency for farmer delivery processing and addressing growing regional demand.
This expansion follows Delta Grain’s 2024 investments of $6 million in a solar panel array and a new 10,000-bushel-per-hour Brock dryer at the same location. The company expects to complete the latest project by the end of October.
The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) is supporting the expansion through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive (MFLEX) program, with additional assistance from the Greenwood-Leflore-Carroll Economic Development Foundation.
Governor Tate Reeves praised the investment, saying, “Mississippi has one of the best agriculture industries in America… Delta Grain’s investment in Leflore County means more capacity for our local farmers and stronger supply chains for our state. It’s another win for Mississippi.”
MDA Executive Director Bill Cork highlighted the importance of the project: “Strategic investments like this drive growth across our communities and demonstrate how innovation in agriculture continues to move Mississippi forward.”
Frank Brumfield, owner of Delta Grain, emphasized the company’s commitment to local agriculture and thanked partners for their support: “Together, we are building a stronger future for the agricultural community in Mississippi.”
Thomas Gregory, Executive Director of the Greenwood-Leflore-Carroll Economic Development Foundation, called the expansion “a strong vote of confidence in Leflore County and the Mississippi Delta,” noting its positive impact on the local economy and farming families.
