Louis Dreyfus Company opened its first owned industrial site in Pakistan on Tuesday, a grain storage facility that adds approximately 40,000 metric tons of capacity to the agricultural commodity trader’s operations in South Punjab.
The Multan facility represents a significant expansion for LDC in Pakistan, a major agricultural market with more than 250 million people and one of the world’s largest wheat producers and consumers.
“Pakistan is an important market for grains and a destination for LDC in South Asia, where growing populations and economies rely on strong, connected agricultural supply chains and trade flows,” said Rubens Marques, LDC’s Head of South & Southeast Asia.
The company said the investment strengthens its domestic market presence and ability to meet customer needs in the region, supporting its global strategy to reinforce core merchandising capabilities.
LDC has operated in Pakistan since 2010, building its position across multiple agricultural sectors including cotton, grains, oilseeds, pulses, rice and sugar. The company maintains a strong presence in the country’s wheat market.
