Superior Ag officially opened its new river terminal with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and community open house in southern Spencer County, Ohio, marking a major expansion of the cooperative’s fertilizer distribution capabilities.
Members, customers, local officials, business partners, employees and community leaders gathered at the facility to tour the 32,000-ton terminal and learn about its impact on local agriculture. The ceremony included remarks from Superior Ag leadership, board members and local officials before attendees explored the new operation.
“The Ohio River Terminal project would not have been possible without the support of our board of directors, employees, contractors, business partners, local leaders and cooperative members,” said Richard Lloyd, president and CEO of Superior Ag. “Today’s celebration shows what can be accomplished when people come together to invest in the future of agriculture and our local communities.”
The terminal strengthens Superior Ag’s ability to receive, store and distribute crop nutrients while improving supply chain reliability for the cooperative’s future growth. Located along the Ohio River, the facility provides direct river access that improves logistics and creates greater flexibility in serving area farmers.
The facility features modern unloading, storage and handling capabilities designed to improve operational efficiency while increasing fertilizer availability during critical application windows. The terminal will support the cooperative’s agronomy operations and help farmers access the products they need when they need them.
“This dry fertilizer terminal represents an investment in the future of agriculture across our region,” Lloyd said. “By expanding our infrastructure and improving access to crop nutrients, we are strengthening our ability to support our members and customers for generations to come.”
