WBKO's Brennan Crain reported that the Barren County, Kentucky, Fiscal Court has partnered with Blumberg Grain and Logistics to develop new grain storage facilities to support local farmers. Judge/Executive Jamie Byrd said the project addresses limited storage options that have increased transportation costs for corn and other grains.
Blumberg Grain, a global leader in food security and logistics, will collaborate with the county and Kentucky Department of Agriculture on a planning and feasibility study. The new facilities are planned near Interstate 65, with design and construction to follow.
Philip F. Blumberg, CEO of Blumberg Grain, praised the county’s commitment to farmers and looks forward to advancing the project quickly.
