Viterra Inc. hosted a grand opening event at its new high throughput grain facility at Vegreville, AB.
Viterra customers, employees and government officials came together to celebrate the company's major investment in east central Alberta.
"We're pleased to be expanding our presence in this area of the province through this state-of-the-art addition to our asset network," says Dean McQueen, Viterra's vice president, Merchandising and Transportation, in his remarks to the audience. "As an industry leader, we've invested millions of dollars in Alberta over the last few years to support our focus on operational excellence and provide our farm customers with exceptional service."
The facility has a storage capacity of 34,000 metric tonnes and is capable of loading up to 126 railcars through a loop track.
"This is a fast, modern and efficient facility that will ensure we're well-positioned to connect our customers to global markets today and well into the future," said McQueen. "Further, we're pleased to positively impact our rural communities with milestone projects like this one through employment opportunities and other economic benefits."
