Growth Energy, the nation’s largest biofuel trade association, today endorsed the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) decision to offer midwest states greater flexibility in implementing year-round E15 fuel sales. The new EPA announcement allows eight states to adjust their timeline for removing outdated seasonal restrictions on E15 sales.
“We applaud EPA for their support of E15 and for working to find a solution that allows each of the eight opt-out states to determine how to handle their own unique fuel market,” said Growth Energy CEO Emily Skor.
While praising the EPA’s move, Skor emphasized the need for broader action, pointing to bipartisan bills (H.R. 1346/S. 593) currently in Congress that would establish nationwide year-round E15 sales. “This announcement only further illustrates the need for a nationwide legislative fix,” she noted.
The organization plans to work with Congress and the White House to expand American ethanol access, aiming to boost economic benefits for consumers and rural communities.
