South West Terminal Ltd. (SWT) has acquired Solo Italia Fine Pasta Inc., a well-known pasta and pizza manufacturer based in Ogema, Saskatchewan. The acquisition supports SWT’s strategic focus on growth, diversification, and investment in value-added food production rooted in Saskatchewan’s agricultural heritage.
Solo Italia is recognized for its authentic, homemade pasta and pizza made from high-quality local ingredients, including durum wheat grown by Saskatchewan producers. By transforming homegrown grains into handcrafted frozen products, Solo Italia emphasizes freshness and quality while celebrating prairie-grown food and Italian tradition.
SWT’s CEO Monty Reich said the acquisition strengthens the company’s connection from farm to consumer, creating new opportunities to showcase Saskatchewan’s agricultural excellence in premium food manufacturing. The move aligns with SWT’s long-term plan for sustainable growth, geographic expansion, and revenue diversification beyond grain handling and marketing.
Solo Italia founders Marco de Michele and Tracey Johnson expressed enthusiasm about joining SWT, highlighting the partnership’s potential to grow while maintaining their commitment to authentic Italian quality and local roots. The acquisition also underscores SWT’s dedication to innovation, rural community support, job creation, and collaboration with primary producers.
