Bunge announced Jan. 23, 2026, that it has completed its divestiture commitment to the Government of Canada with the sale of its grain elevator in Valparaiso, Saskatchewan, to Cargill. This transaction fulfills the final requirement tied to regulatory approval of Bunge’s merger with Viterra.

The Valparaiso facility is the sixth and last of the grain elevators Bunge agreed to divest as part of the merger conditions. The company had previously announced the sale of five other facilities on Nov. 7, 2025. Those sites were acquired by local companies: Direct Grain Limited took over the Dixon, Saskatchewan, site; Linear Grain Inc. purchased the Fannystelle, Manitoba, facility; and BP & Sons Grain and Storage Inc. acquired the Beausejour, Tucker, and Coulter, Manitoba, sites.

Since July 2, 2025, all six facilities have been held separate from Bunge’s main operations and managed independently by a Hold Separate Manager. The entire hold separate and sales process was monitored by a government-approved third party to ensure compliance with the divestiture terms.

No further details about the Valparaiso transaction have been disclosed. The completion of this divestiture marks a significant step in finalizing Bunge’s merger with Viterra under Canadian regulatory requirements.
