Farmward Cooperative and Ag Plus Cooperative have reached a significant milestone as Ag Plus members overwhelmingly approved the proposed unification of the two organizations. This merger combines two member-owned cooperatives committed to local service, cooperative values, and long-term stability.
The unified cooperative will maintain its headquarters in Morgan, Minnesota, and both organizations will operate independently until March 1, 2026, while integration efforts are underway. Leadership continuity is ensured with John Husk continuing as Farmward CEO and Ag Plus CEO Josh Hilbrands transitioning to Senior Vice President of Operations. Hilbrands will also lead the Ag Plus agronomy region, while Jim Boyle oversees Farmward’s agronomy operations through spring.
The unification strengthens agronomy and energy services by combining expertise and resources, expands geographic reach across southwest Minnesota, and offers greater consistency and value for members through standardized practices and combined purchasing power. It also lays a larger foundation for future generations of farmers and community members.
Farmward Board President Dave Kadlec emphasized the cooperative’s commitment to supporting growers, families, and towns while remaining rooted in local values. Ag Plus Board Chair Eddie De Langhe highlighted the focus on protecting and growing member equity through the merger.
Patrons can expect seamless service during integration, with Ag Plus locations and staff operating under the Farmward umbrella. Both cooperatives pledge transparent communication and thoughtful planning as they move forward, aiming to deliver dependable service and foster thriving communities.
