As food insecurity grows across the United States, the CHS Foundation and CoBank have pledged a combined $2 million to Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization. Each will contribute $1 million to help food banks meet increasing demand, with a focus on rural areas where 86% of counties with the highest food insecurity are located.

“CHS and the CHS Foundation believe in the power of the cooperative system to support rural communities,” said Jay Debertin, CHS president and CEO. “Through this combined effort with CoBank and Feeding America, we’re helping families in rural America have access to the food they need.”

Tom Halverson, CEO of CoBank, emphasized the partnership’s mission: “Food insecurity is a growing challenge in rural America, where families are struggling to put meals on the table. This partnership is about delivering nourishment where it’s needed most.”

Feeding America serves millions weekly through a network of more than 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal programs. Linda Nageotte, Feeding America’s president and COO, expressed gratitude for the donation, noting the importance of collaborative efforts to end hunger in rural communities, especially among children.
