Bushel, an independent software technology company known for its digital tools in the agricultural supply chain, has announced the appointment of Tony Morosini as Chief Digital Payments Officer. This strategic move is part of Bushel’s ongoing efforts to drive the adoption of digital payments in the agriculture sector and enhance innovation within its payment solutions.

Morosini brings over two decades of experience in the payments and fintech industry to Bushel. In his new role, he will focus on expanding the adoption of Bushel Wallet™, a digital payment platform designed for agribusinesses and farmers. He will also lead the development of Bushel's digital payment solutions, overseeing operations, managing risks, and using market insights to refine product offerings.

"Tony’s extensive experience in digital payments and banking will be critical as we continue to push for broader adoption of secure and efficient payment systems in agriculture," said Jake Joraanstad, CEO of Bushel. "His leadership will help ensure that our payment solutions remain both innovative and user-friendly for the agricultural community."

Before joining Bushel, Morosini held senior leadership positions across various fintech companies. He most recently served as GM and SVP of the Payments Group at P97 Networks, where he managed payment solutions for the oil and gas industry. His previous roles include leading Figure Payments Corporation as President and contributing to the growth of SoFi's banking products, including SoFi Money. Morosini’s career began with a decade at Visa, where he developed payment solutions for member banks.

"Agriculture has a unique network where relationships and money movement are deeply connected. I'm excited to simplify transactions and make it easier for agribusinesses and farmers to do business across the supply chain," said Morosini.

Bushel’s 2024 State of the Farm Report highlights a growing shift towards digital payments, with a 12% decrease in paper check payments to farmers. However, despite concerns over security risks associated with mailed payments, over 70% of grain settlements are still made by paper check. Morosini's appointment signals Bushel’s commitment to accelerating the transition to digital payments in the agriculture industry.

Bushel's platform currently connects more than 3,500 grain and ag retail facilities, facilitating transactions for over 100,000 farmers and agribusinesses across the U.S. and Canada. This extensive network powers more than half of grain origination in these regions, playing a crucial role in the agricultural payments ecosystem.

In recognition of its efforts, Bushel was recently named “AgTech Finance Platform of the Year” at the fifth annual AgTech Breakthrough Awards. This accolade underscores Bushel’s impact in advancing financial technology within the agricultural sector.
