The Animal Agriculture Alliance has announced the promotion of three dedicated team members—Emily Ellis, Abby Kornegay, and Grace Simpson—in recognition of their exceptional contributions to the organization and the animal agriculture community. These promotions, effective January 1, underscore the Alliance’s commitment to fostering talent and leadership within its ranks.
“We are excited to announce these well-earned promotions, which showcase the growth, commitment, and expertise of our team,” said Hannah Thompson-Weeman, president and CEO of the Animal Agriculture Alliance. “Emily, Abby, and Grace have each made outstanding contributions to advancing our mission of safeguarding the future of animal agriculture. I look forward to working alongside them as they grow in their new roles.”
Promoted Team Members and Their Roles
Emily Ellis--director, communications and content
A former intern with the Alliance in 2017 and full-time team member since 2020, Ellis has been promoted to director of communications and content. She has been instrumental in shaping the Alliance’s communications strategy and brand identity, including leading the release of a 2024 report on animal agriculture’s sustainability contributions and expanding the College Aggies Online scholarship program.
Abby Kornegay--director, issues and engagement
Joining the Alliance in 2022, Kornegay has been elevated to director of issues and engagement. She spearheads the Alliance’s issues management and crisis communications strategies and combats misinformation threatening food security. Kornegay has also strengthened industry relationships, exemplified by hosting a farm tour for restaurant, retail and foodservice partners in fall 2024.
Grace Simpson--manager, membership and communications
After interning with the Alliance in 2021 and becoming a full-time team member in 2022, Simpson has been promoted to manager of membership and communications. She oversees membership and sponsorship processes, operational needs, and the Alliance’s social media presence. Her efforts have significantly boosted member engagement and retention.
