The Kansas Grain Sorghum Commission will host its third annual Sorghum Connection field days in late August, offering producers free access to research plots and expert insights across central and western Kansas.
The series, developed with K-State Extension and the K-State Department of Plant Pathology, focuses on data-driven management decisions to boost farm profitability. Participants will tour nearly 1,000 plots featuring agronomic innovations, management practices and research findings.
Topics include hybrid selection and performance, cropping systems and fertility management. Kansas State University specialists and industry experts will present on precision agriculture technologies, including drone-based mapping and spraying applications.
“The best conversations happen in the field, where producers can see research results firsthand and ask questions that matter to their operations,” said Dr. Rodrigo Onofre, who leads the program.
The field days will take place:
- Aug. 26, 10 a.m.: 1½ miles west of Bavaria, then ¾ mile north on South Powers Road
- Aug. 27, 10 a.m.: ½ mile south of Dorrance on Road 200
- Aug. 28, 2 p.m.: 2 miles east and 3 miles south of Dighton at Road 120 and Mustang Road
