Parker VelteWisconsin Soybean Program
Velte served more than two years as a legislative assistant in the Wisconsin State Assembly, where he worked with state legislators and built relationships with policymakers and constituents.
His background is not directly in agriculture, but Velte’s interest in farming began in Montfort, a rural community in southwestern Wisconsin. Watching tractors work fields near his school and spending time on friends’ family farms sparked his interest in agriculture.
“Being at my friends’ family farms, I noticed it just had a different kind of dynamic that I enjoyed,” Velte said. “It’s quiet out there, and there was always work to be done.”
Velte said his legislative experience taught him the importance of building relationships, a skill he plans to use with Wisconsin soybean farmers and industry partners.
Wisconsin Soybean Program Executive Director Adam Kask said Velte has already made a positive impact.
“Parker has already proven to be a great addition to the Wisconsin Soybean Program,” Kask said. “He understands the values of both the Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board and the Wisconsin Soybean Association.”
Velte will work with farmer-leaders, industry partners and stakeholders to advance programs and initiatives that support Wisconsin’s soybean industry.
