The U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council renamed its Innovation & Sustainability Advisory Team last week, calling it the Market Access & Sustainability A-Team to better reflect the group’s work throughout the year.
The change brings the team’s title in line with its actual responsibilities, which focus on international trade policies and sustainability requirements for U.S. grain exports.
“The MAS A-Team works to aid the adoption of international policies that advance consistent, fair, rules-based systems for trade, encourage acceptance of agricultural biotechnology and position U.S.-origin grain in alignment with international supply chain sustainability requirements,” said Carlos F. Suárez, USGBC director of global sustainability.
The renamed team is one of seven advisory groups that help shape the Council’s global promotion of U.S. agricultural exports. Grain producers and agribusiness representatives serve on these teams, which identify opportunities and set priorities for the organization each year.
Members serve two-year terms, renewable without limit at the Board of Directors’ discretion. The seven teams focus on specific areas: Asia, Market Access & Sustainability, Ethanol, Middle East/Africa/South Asia, Trade Policy, Value-Added Programs and Western Hemisphere.
A-Team members meet in person twice yearly at the Council’s annual meetings to review the Unified Export Strategy and set directions for the year ahead. They also hold periodic phone calls to review new developments affecting USGBC work worldwide.
