The U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council signed a memorandum of understanding with Taiwan Sugar Corporation last week to jointly promote ethanol development in the region through technical cooperation and knowledge exchange.
USGBC Vice President Cary Sifferath signed the agreement with Taiwan Sugar Corporation Chairman Wu Ming-Chang, with American Institute in Taiwan officials observing the ceremony.
The partnership will explore using imported U.S. corn as feedstock for ethanol production in Taiwan and leverage TSC’s storage capacity for U.S. ethanol imports. Taiwan Sugar Corporation operates Taiwan’s largest corporate pig farm and maintains fermentation infrastructure for ethanol production.
The agreement follows USGBC’s 2024 partnership with CPC Corporation, marking another step toward developing bioethanol applications in Taiwan’s energy and transportation sectors.
