WIA award nominations and scholarships applications due soon

Two key deadlines approach for Women in Agribusiness programs supporting women across the agricultural value chain.

Women In Agribusiness

The Women in Agribusiness Demeter Award of Excellence recognizes three outstanding women in agriculture annually for exceptional professional achievements and advancing opportunities for women in the industry. Recipients are honored at the Women in Agribusiness Summit in September.

This year marks a special addition to the program. In recognition of 2026 being the International Year of the Woman Farmer as designated by the United Nations, WIA has introduced a fourth award dedicated exclusively to female farmers. The American Farm Bureau Federation is collaborating on this special award, assisting in candidate review and recipient selection.

All nominations must be received by Monday, June 22, 2026.

Student scholarships support next generation

The WIA Student Scholarship Program enters its 13th year, having helped more than 450 young women in agriculture attend the annual summit. The program has received over $1.4 million in sponsorship support.

Scholarship recipients receive a complimentary three-day Summit pass, providing access to industry content, networking opportunities and mentorship through sponsor pairings. Students also enjoy exclusive breakfast, lunch and workshop options, plus access to all conference receptions and special activities.

Applications for WIA scholarships are due Sunday, July 12, and participation is limited. The WIA website contains application details and additional program information.

Both initiatives reflect the organization’s commitment to recognizing current leaders while developing the next generation of women in agriculture.
