The American Feed Industry Association has opened registration for its 2025 Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance Preventive Controls Qualified Individual refresher training course, scheduled for Dec. 9-10 in Nashville, Tennessee.

The two-day program, available exclusively to AFIA members, is designed for professionals who have previously completed PCQI training and want to reinforce their knowledge of Food Safety Modernization Act requirements.

"This refresher course will help PCQI-trained professionals stay sharp on Food Safety Modernization Act requirements with a focused review of essential Food and Drug Administration-recognized concepts," said Gary Huddleston, AFIA's director of feed manufacturing and regulatory affairs.

Rather than serving as a full recertification program, the course highlights key principles from the FDA-recognized "standardized curriculum," focusing on essential material in a condensed format.

Topics include FSMA requirements for animal food, current good manufacturing practices, food safety hazards, plan development, hazard analysis and preventive control determinations. The course also covers management of process, sanitation and supply chain controls.

Participants must have successfully completed an FSPCA PCQI training course and hold a valid PCQI certificate to attend. Certificate information will be required during the registration process.

AFIA has arranged accommodations at The Inn at Opryland with rooms available at a preferred rate of $164 per night plus taxes until November 14 or until capacity is reached.

For registration information or questions about the program, members can visit afia.org/events or contact AFIA's director of meetings and events.
