Illinois corn farmer elected chairman of USGC

Mark Wilson unveils “The Time Is Now” theme as organization faces urgent trade climate challenges.

U.S. Grains Council

The U.S. Grains Council elected Mark Wilson of the Illinois Corn Marketing Board as chairman of its Board of Directors Thursday during its 65th Annual Board of Delegates Meeting.

Wilson, who operates a corn and soybean farm in Toulin, Illinois, has served as a Council delegate for 10 years and previously held positions as corn sector director and various leadership roles.

“I am humbled for the opportunity you have given me to represent you around the world,” Wilson said during his acceptance speech. “I promise that I will do everything that I can to keep your crops and products moving.”

Wilson unveiled his chairman’s theme, “The Time Is Now,” emphasizing the urgency of addressing current trade challenges.

Jay Reiners of the Nebraska Corn Board was elected vice chairman and Jay Fischer of the Missouri Corn Growers Association will serve as secretary-treasurer.

Other newly elected leadership includes Dylan Rosier and Greg Alber as at-large directors, along with Sean Broderick, Jolene Riessen and Matthew Horlacher as sector directors.

Wilson has farmed full-time since 1988 and previously served as chairman of the Illinois Corn Marketing Board.
