The Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) has appointed Bob Horvat as its new board president for the upcoming fiscal year. Horvat, a GEAPS member since 2010, currently serves as the manufacturing technology lead and engineer at Cargill, Inc. in Wayzata, Minnesota.
"Throughout my career, I've seen firsthand the value GEAPS brings to individuals and companies alike," Horvat said. "I look forward to working with our dedicated members, volunteers and staff to grow the organization, strengthen our educational programs, and build an even more connected community across the grain handling and processing industries."
Austin Carpenter, who served as GEAPS president for the past year, will transition to the role of Chairman of the Board. Carpenter, a sales manager for Clear Creek & Associates, Inc. in Goshen, Indiana, made history as the first GEAPS Associate member to hold the president title on the International Board of Directors.
Reflecting on his tenure, Carpenter said, "Serving as GEAPS' president this past year has been an incredibly fulfilling experience. I'm proud of the momentum we've built, especially around educational growth, increased chapter engagement, and a renewed focus on facility memberships."
Carpenter highlighted the organization's recent achievements, including the launch of the NextGen Path program and record-breaking attendance at the GEAPS Exchange conference for two consecutive years.
In addition to these leadership changes, Jon Brown of MKC was elected as International second vice president. Adam Geers of Michigan Agricultural Commodities will fill the director vacancy left by Brown's promotion.
The board also welcomed several new members: Scott Biel of MKC, Sean Farrell of The Delong Company, Charlie Hurburgh of Iowa State University, Danny Lien of Ag Processing Inc., Bob Reis of Electro-Sensors, Inc., Matthew Schmitt of Keen Project Solutions, and Chad Wolf of Mass Flow Sourcing.
GEAPS encourages all members to get involved with the organization through volunteer opportunities.
