The United Sorghum Checkoff Program (USCP) has announced significant leadership changes during its annual December meeting. Ethan Miller of Columbia, Missouri, has been elected as the 2025 chairman, taking the helm of the organization dedicated to advancing the sorghum industry.

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack appointed one new board member and reappointed three producers to second terms. Dale L. Stoltzfus from Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania, joins the board as a newly appointed at-large member. Macey A. Mueller of Halstead, Kansas, Kim Baldwin of McPherson, Kansas, and Kevin Pshigoda of Perryton, Texas, were reappointed to serve second terms.

The newly elected USCP Executive Committee includes Kim Baldwin as Vice Chair, David Schemm as Secretary, and Zack Rendel as Treasurer. These leaders, along with the newly appointed and reappointed board members, will serve terms ending in December 2027.

Outgoing Chairman Adam Schindler of Reliance, South Dakota, was recognized for his dedicated service as he concluded his term on the USCP Board.

Upon his election, Miller expressed his commitment to the role, stating, "I am honored to take on the role of Chairman and continue driving innovation and opportunities for sorghum producers. Our industry's resilience and adaptability are key to unlocking sorghum's potential, and I look forward to working alongside this exceptional team to advance our mission."

USCP Executive Director Norma Ritz Johnson praised the board's composition, noting, "USCP continues to thrive because of the dedication of our producers and leaders who work tirelessly to support the sorghum industry. This Board represents a wealth of experience and vision that will help us navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead."

The 13-member USCP Board comprises nine sorghum farmers representing the largest sorghum-producing states—Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas—and four at-large representatives from across the nation. This diverse leadership team is poised to guide the sorghum industry through upcoming challenges and opportunities, focusing on innovation and growth in the sector.
