Oklahoma State University will host a two-day workshop on stored product pest management Sept. 15-16, 2026. The workshop, organized by the Urban Pest Management Technical Committee (UPMTC) and OSU, offers pest management professionals a mix of classroom sessions and hands-on training at the university’s Stillwater campus. Both members and non-members of UPMTC can attend.
Day one features lectures at the Horticulture Education Center, covering topics from FSMA compliance to emerging pest management technologies. Sessions include “FSMA Fundamentals for Food Plant IPM Programs” with Ravi Jadeja from OSU and “Identification and Control of Dermestid Beetles” with Shep from Rose Pest Solutions.
Alison Gerken from USDA-ARS will present research highlights, while Eric Myers from ADM discusses stored product insects in food manufacturing. Tom Mueller from Insects Limited will cover emerging pests and technology, and Jeff Weier will examine mold spores and fungus-related issues.
The second day shifts to hands-on training at the Stored Product Research and Education Center (SPREC), 205 S Range Rd. Teams will rotate through 50-minute stations covering flour mill inspections, commodity fumigation with CO₂, pest identification, and pheromone mating disruption calculations.
A lunch session on grain bin fumigation safety and engulfment will be led by retired OSU faculty member Carol Jones.
SPREC serves as OSU’s hub for stored products research. The facility features a 60x80-foot building with laboratories and a conference room, plus grain storage capacity of 42,350 bushels across various bin sizes.

A separate fumigation workshop runs Sept. 14 with independent registration required. Early bird pricing of $100 ends Sept. 1.
