As Iowa Ag Week concludes, the vital role of corn in the state’s economy and daily life is clear. Last year, Iowa produced more than 2.7 billion bushels of corn, accounting for over 30% of Iowa’s agriculture revenue, according to Decision Innovation Solutions.

“We like to say you may think Iowa just grows corn, but the truth is corn grows Iowa,” said Joe Roberts, Iowa Corn Promotion Board president and Belmond farmer. “We lead the nation in corn used for livestock feed, fiber and ethanol. By feeding our corn to livestock, we’re creating high-quality meat and dairy products, and by processing it into ethanol, we’re providing a cleaner-burning, more affordable choice at the pump.”

Iowa Corn Growers Association President Mark Mueller represented Iowa corn farmers at the White House’s “Great American Agriculture Celebration” during Ag Week, advocating for policies including year-round E15 fuel and trade issues.

Iowa Corn encourages consumers to support local agriculture by choosing E15 fuel, buying corn-fed meat and dairy, investing in FFA and 4-H, and thanking farmers in their communities.
