Bunge Canada has signed an agreement to acquire the grain elevator assets of North West Terminal Ltd. near Unity, Saskatchewan, the company announced.

The acquisition includes the grain elevator and storage assets, while the fermentation and distillation facility will continue to be operated by NWT.

With a total storage capacity of 63,000 metric tonnes, the facility ranks among western Canada's largest grain handling operations. It features full cleaning and drying capabilities and is serviced by both CPKC and CN railways.

"We look forward to integrating this efficient, high throughput facility into our industry leading grain asset network," said Kyle Jeworski, head of Bunge in Canada.

The transaction, subject to customary closing conditions, is expected to be completed in October.

Jeworski said Bunge plans to make targeted investments in the facility and become an active community member.
