Aurora Cooperative Elevator Company announced Monday the completion of its merger with Farmers Union Co-Operative Association of Kearney, effective September 2, 2025.

The strategic combination unites two long-established farmer-owned cooperatives, expanding service offerings for members in the Kearney area. The merged entity will provide broader access to innovative solutions in seed, fertilizer, crop protection, animal nutrition, energy products and grain operations.

"We are bringing together two strong organizations with shared values and a dedication to supporting our member-owners," said Chris Decker, CEO of Aurora Cooperative. "Our combined efforts will enable us to provide more comprehensive services and improved efficiencies."

Aurora Cooperative strengthens its position in Nebraska's agricultural sector through the acquisition, while Farmers Union members gain access to an extensive network and service capabilities.

Gary Kegley, President of Farmers Union's Board of Directors, supported the decision: "Joining forces with Aurora Cooperative was the best option for us to continue providing the services our members need through significant investment to our existing facility."

Both organizations will work collaboratively during the integration phase to ensure a seamless transition while maintaining service quality for their farmer-owners.
