The Port of Liverpool recently received its largest shipment from Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM), marking a significant milestone in the port’s bulk handling capabilities and its support of the UK’s food and feed supply chains. The vessel, arriving from New Orleans, measured 229 meters and carried over 67,000 metric tonnes of mixed agribulk cargo—the largest ADM consignment ever handled at the port.
The shipment included maize, high-protein soya, soya hull pellets, and corn gluten, demonstrating the port’s flexibility in managing complex, high-volume bulk cargoes. These commodities are essential to the UK’s agricultural and animal feed sectors, and the port’s ability to handle multiple product types within a single consignment ensures segregation, quality control, and efficient turnaround times.
Jonathan Lane, Managing Director of ADM Agriculture Ltd and ADM UK Country Manager, said, “This shipment represents an important milestone for ADM and underscores the strength of our global supply chains. Our partnership with Peel Ports and the Port of Liverpool is integral to our operations and central to our commitment as a dependable supplier of high-quality feedstuffs to the UK Animal Feed Industry.”
Tom Harrison, Group Strategic Accounts Director at Peel Ports Group, added, “Welcoming ADM’s largest ever shipment to the Port of Liverpool underlines the capability of the port and our teams to handle increasingly large and complex bulk cargoes. Our deep-water access, modern infrastructure, and strong onward connectivity enable customers like ADM to move essential goods through the UK supply chain with confidence.”
