Baker-Rullman co-founder Richard S. Baker Jr. dies at 90

After co-founding the company in 1980, Baker led it from a Wisconsin startup to a global supplier and engineer of feed milling equipment.

Richard S. Baker Jr., co-founder of Baker-Rullman Manufacturing, Inc., a global leader in industrial dehydration systems and feed mill equipment, passed away Jan. 30, 2026, at age 90.

An engineer by profession and entrepreneur at heart, Baker co-founded the southern Wisconsin-based manufacturing company in 1980 and was a prominent figure in the US feed manufacturing industry. Under his leadership, Baker-Rullman grew into a global supplier of rotary drum dryers, bins and hoppers and milling equipment — now operating in more than 50 countries across six continents.

Baker is survived by four daughters, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and his sister-in-law. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.

Outside his professional achievements, Baker was known as a talented golfer, skilled woodworker and avid outdoorsman. Colleagues and family remember his steady presence and strong work ethic.

Memorial services will be held February 6 at Harder Funeral Home in Watertown, Wisconsin. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of choice.
