Landus Cooperative announced the appointment of Todd Samuels as its new chief financial officer, succeeding Kathleen Lyons, who will retire effective March 1, 2026.
Samuels joins Landus from Chevron Renewable Energy Group, where he led financial operations including accounting, financial planning, risk management, and carbon credit compliance. With over 20 years of senior leadership experience, he has held roles such as Chief Accounting Officer and CFO at Chevron Renewable Energy Group, as well as finance positions at Deere & Company and Hawkeye Energy Holdings.
“His leadership, financial discipline, and forward-thinking approach are exactly what our cooperative needs for its next chapter,” said Tim Kolder, chair of the Landus Board of Directors.
Samuels holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Simpson College and is a Certified Public Accountant, affiliated with both the American Institute of CPAs and the Iowa Society of CPAs.
Landus CEO Eric Heismeyer praised Samuels’ expertise in agriculture, risk management, and energy markets, calling him an exceptional addition to the leadership team.
Lyons, who served Landus and its legacy cooperatives for more than 27 years, became CFO in 2022. She was recognized for her steady leadership during a period of significant growth and will continue advising the cooperative during the transition.
“We extend our sincere thanks to Kathleen for her many years of service and wish her the very best in her retirement,” Kolder added.
