Cereals Canada released its annual New Wheat Crop Report detailing the quality and performance of the 2025 wheat crop for global and domestic customers. The report highlights milling performance, flour and semolina quality, and end-product functionality.
“Canada has produced another high-quality wheat crop with good functionality,” said Dean Dias, CEO. Canada is expected to export 27.4 million tonnes of wheat in 2025-2026 to over 80 international markets, maintaining its position as the world’s leading exporter of high-protein wheat.
Farmers grew 36.6 million tonnes of wheat in 2025, mostly graded No. 1 or No. 2. Despite variable conditions across the Prairies, timely mid-summer rains supported higher-than-average yields. Eastern Canada’s winter wheat also benefited from favorable weather, resulting in strong yields and good quality.
Protein content remained comparable to average, with all wheat classes showing good test weights. Western composites recorded higher-than-average thousand kernel weights.
This year’s report included Eastern wheat classes for the first time, thanks to a partnership with Grain Farmers of Ontario. Cereals Canada will present technical data in webinars on Nov. 18 and 19.
