Dan Schurr, chair of the CHS Board of Directors, announced he will not seek reelection when his current three-year term ends in December 2026, marking his 20th year of service. Schurr also confirmed he will step down as board chair when his one-year officer term concludes this December.
In a statement, Schurr expressed deep dedication to CHS and the cooperative system, but stressed the importance of effective succession to propel the cooperative into the future. “While I have thoroughly enjoyed my service, I believe it’s time for a new board member to step in,” he said.
Schurr plans to support the board throughout his final year and help ensure a seamless transition for his successor. By announcing his intentions early, he aims to give potential candidates ample time to consider running for the Region 7 Director seat ahead of the February 15, 2026, nomination deadline.
Reflecting on his tenure, Schurr praised the cooperative model as “the most effective business model designed to help its owners succeed,” noting its nearly century-long history of success. He expressed confidence in the board and management team’s strategic vision and commitment to owner success.
Schurr thanked fellow board members, management, and cooperative owners for their collaboration and looks forward to continued advocacy beyond his board service.
