Columbia Grain International (CGI) has appointed Siddharth (Sid) Sharma as its new Chief Digital and Information Officer, a role that combines traditional CIO and CISO duties with a focus on digital innovation and advanced technology strategy.

With over 20 years of experience, Sharma will spearhead CGI’s digital transformation initiatives, driving the adoption of artificial intelligence, data analytics, and digital culture across the organization. His expertise includes leading ERP transformations and incubating Industrial IoT businesses for major technology firms in Europe and the U.S.

Sharma expressed enthusiasm about joining CGI, highlighting the company’s mission to support farmers and feed the world amid growing global challenges. “These are interesting times, and this particular value chain is fundamental to how the world looks at its food and sustainability future,” he said.

As the world population surpasses 8.2 billion amid climate disruptions and tariff fluctuations, CGI aims to leverage digital tools to ensure a predictable, affordable food supply by enhancing efficiency from farm to end-use.
