A new joint venture between Five Rivers Cattle Feeding and Viserion Grain is bringing infrastructure investment and economic momentum to the Texas Panhandle. The newly formed partnership, known as 5V, broke ground on June 20 on a shuttle train receiving facility in Dalhart, Texas, marking the start of construction on a project that aims to enhance feed supply and support the regional agricultural economy.

The facility will serve as a critical link in the feed supply chain, combining Viserion’s grain origination and merchandising capabilities with Five Rivers’ established role in cattle feeding. Strategically connected to the Union Pacific rail line, the site will allow for efficient inbound grain movement to meet growing feed demand. Operations are expected to begin in 2026.

Company executives were joined at the groundbreaking by local officials, chamber representatives and members of the Texas Cattle Feeders Association. Community leaders highlighted the positive impact the project is expected to bring through job creation and infrastructure investment.

“This facility not only expands our network, but also supports the local agricultural community,” said Aaron Wiegand, CEO of Viserion International. “We’re proud to partner with a premier cattle feeder to invest in the Texas Panhandle and create jobs.”

Union Pacific, the facility’s rail partner, also emphasized its investment in infrastructure to support agricultural growth.
