The U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council (USGBC) recently took part in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Trade Reciprocity for U.S. Manufacturers and Producers mission to Vietnam, engaging with key stakeholders in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

USGBC Vice Chairman Jay Reiners and other council representatives joined USDA Under Secretary Luke J. Lindberg during the mission, which focused on expanding markets for U.S. corn, sorghum, barley, and ethanol products.

Vietnam’s fuel market is among Asia’s fastest growing, with gasoline consumption expected to exceed three billion gallons annually by 2027. The country plans to implement an E10 ethanol blending policy for its RON95 gasoline grade starting in June, complementing the existing E5 RON92 mandate. This policy is projected to generate demand for approximately 240 million gallons of fuel ethanol per year.

Vietnam remains a major importer of U.S. distiller’s dried grains with solubles (DDGS), receiving over 1.1 million metric tons in marketing year 2024/2025, making it the third largest export market for U.S. DDGS. It ranked as the eighth largest U.S. corn customer in 2024/2025 and seventh in the current marketing year.

During the mission, the delegation met with ethanol customers like PVOIL, participated in the Food & Hospitality Vietnam Trade Show, and visited key importers and facilities in Hanoi. An E10 promotional event at Petrolimex’s flagship fuel station underscored the partnership between Vietnam’s largest fuel distributor and the U.S. ethanol industry.

USGBC officials emphasized their commitment to supporting Vietnam’s animal feed, dairy, and ethanol sectors as trade ties continue to grow.
