The Global Ethanol Summit (GES) 2025 opened Monday with a focus on ethanol’s role as a renewable, widely available energy source. Hosted by the U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council (USGBC), the event drew over 450 industry leaders, government officials and bioethanol producers from more than 40 countries.
USGBC Chairman Mark Wilson introduced three keynote speakers who emphasized ethanol’s economic and environmental benefits. Geoff Cooper of the Renewable Fuels Association, Emily Skor of Growth Energy, and Neil Bentley of BASF highlighted ethanol’s impact on global energy security and climate goals.
A new interactive tool unveiled at the summit allows users to compare ethanol’s blending economics and greenhouse gas reduction benefits worldwide, supporting policymakers and industry leaders with real-world data.
Panels and flash talks explored ethanol’s expanding market access, the integration of regenerative agriculture, and the use of modern technology to boost efficiency. Speakers included experts from organizations such as MEO Carbon Solutions, Argonne National Laboratory, and the National Corn Growers Association.
The day concluded with a fireside chat on ethanol’s expanding benefits for agriculture and energy, underscoring bioethanol’s role in addressing climate change, poverty and hunger.
Following the summit, nine participant groups will tour U.S. biofuel facilities to see the ethanol value chain in action, reinforcing the summit’s mission to elevate bioethanol as a key decarbonization solution in transportation.
