AFIA opens registration for Feed Industry Institute

Set for June in Minneapolis, the American Feed Industry Association's Feed Industry Institute aims to educate emerging professionals on animal feed production

The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) has officially opened registration for its upcoming Feed Industry Institute (FII), scheduled for June 17-20 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This biennial event is designed to educate emerging professionals in the animal feed industry about various aspects of feed production, including ingredients, processes, and regulatory standards.

Paul Davis, Ph.D., AFIA’s director of quality, animal food safety, and education, emphasized the importance of the event as an educational platform, particularly for those new to the industry. The FII 2024 aims to provide attendees with a foundational understanding of the U.S. feed industry, covering animal physiology and nutrition, types of ingredients and their purposes, as well as the use of medications and additives in animal food.

The agenda for the institute includes an array of topics, from basic overviews to more complex subjects like formulation, processing techniques, consumer trust, international trade, and engagement with regulatory agencies. The full agenda can be found on the event’s website.

FII 2024 also presents several networking opportunities for attendees, including a reception and an optional outing to a Minnesota Twins baseball game. These events are particularly beneficial for those early in their careers or new to the industry, helping them to expand their professional networks.

The AFIA is offering an early-bird registration rate of $799 for its members and $999 for non-members, available until Friday, March 8.
