Landus, Iowa’s largest agricultural cooperative, announced that LANDWERX, its agricultural innovation hub launched in 2023, will now operate independently to scale its efforts nationally and build broader partnerships.
The move allows Landus to double down on its mission to serve its 5,000 farmer-owners across Iowa, while LANDWERX focuses on cross-industry innovation addressing food system resiliency and national food security.
Originally incubated within Landus, LANDWERX has piloted technologies like SkyScout, a drone-based crop health monitoring system, and the Innovation Connector, a collaborative space for ag innovation in Des Moines. Both companies will continue to collaborate where missions align.
Landus will maintain its Des Moines Innovation Connector as a hub for farmer-led problem-solving and stakeholder engagement. Meanwhile, LANDWERX will pursue its mission to unite agriculture, academia, government, and industry around tech solutions for global food system challenges.
