
Mark Klaassen died in a grain bin accident on February 21 in southern Harvey County, Kansas, after becoming trapped while working inside the storage structure.
Emergency personnel responded at 2:30 p.m. following reports of an entrapment incident. Three men were working to level and empty soybeans inside a large grain bin when the contents suddenly shifted, trapping one worker.
The trapped man was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials ruled the death accidental. The other two workers escaped without injury.
Newton Fire/EMS, Halstead Fire/EMS and Sedgwick County emergency personnel assisted in the response effort.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident continues.
