Grain Bin Collapses in Southern Nebraska

Spilling $4 to $5 million worth of corn to the ground

The Lincoln Journal Star reported that 1-million-plus bushels of corn spilt from a collapsed bin in Edison, NE, on Aug. 6 at an Ag Valley Co-op grain elevator. The bin contained between $4 million and $5 million worth of corn, officials estimated.

The incident occured between 8:30 p.m., when an employee checked on the bin, and 9 p.m., when a passerby noticed the damage. No one was hurt, Jeff Krejdl, Ag Valley interim manager, told the McCook Gazette on Monday.
