On Friday, Umbarger Show Feeds celebrated the grand opening of its new feed manufacturing facility in Franklin, IN.

The $14 million facility features automated feed milling machinery, grain storage, a bagging line, a logistics division and corporate offices, reports the Daily Journal.

The project retained 23 jobs and added 15 more.

Current co-owners Marty and Jackson Umbarger, Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb, County Councilmember Rob Henderson and Franklin Mayor Steve Barnett spoke at the ceremony.

Umbarger Show Feeds is a fourth generation family owned and operated business located in central Indiana, and has been in business for over 76 years.

In the summer of 1939, Roy L. Umbarger, then a feed salesman for a major feed company specializing in poultry health and nutrition, moved his wife, Cecile, and young son, Walter, to the small rural town of Bargersville, IN. There he began his own feed business, something he had always dreamed, naming it Roy Umbarger & Son.

The road from a small-town feed store to a national brand was paved with sacrifices from four generations of Umbargers, Marty and Jackson said.

The facility was dedicated Friday to Walter Umbarger and his wife, Jackie, for their work making the business a success. A plaque recognizing their work now hangs at the facility.
