MPS Egg Farms held a ribbon-cutting ceremony July 21 to celebrate the grand opening of its new Strauss Feed Mill in North Manchester, Indiana, marking a milestone in a family feed-making tradition that stretches back nearly 150 years.
The event, held at the mill at 648 E 1100 N, began with opening remarks and a ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. Guests toured the facility, met the MPS team and learned about the mill's feed production capabilities.
Co-CEO Dan Krouse addressed guests at the ribbon cutting, marking what the company called a milestone nearly 150 years in the making.
"Our family has been making feed in North Manchester consistently since 1875," Co-CEO Sam Krouse said. "Over that time our mills have connected us to our community and its farmers, turning their quality grain into quality feed. We are excited for our new Strauss Feed Mill to continue that tradition, offering local farmers speedier unloads and an opportunity to help us feed America with our nutritious eggs."
The new mill was designed to enhance efficiency, increase production capacity and provide feed tailored to the needs of MPS Egg Farms' three Indiana farms. Nearly all of the grain used in the feed is sourced from local farmers and grain partners, a practice the company said supports local farm families, reduces transportation emissions and maintains a transparent, resilient supply chain.
MPS Egg Farms credited several partners for helping bring the project to completion, including Empire AG, Specialty Entrance Technologies LLC, Jake's Electric, Eads Excavating, Knutson Brothers Inc., Beta Raven Automation, Foam Energy, Spann & Son's Construction and Van Contracting Inc.
"Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this milestone," the company said following the event.
MPS Egg Farms is the seventh-largest egg producer in the country, producing 250 million dozen eggs each year. According to the WATTPoultry.com Top Companies Database, the family-owned and led company has a flock of 13.6 million hens.
