Emergency crews in Clay County, Nebraska, battled a fire at Cooperative Producers, Inc. (CPI) in Saronville on Wednesday, reports KFXL.

Emergency personnel reported heavy fire and a debris field when they arrived, stating grain bins were on fire.

According to fire personnel, a strong wind event in Saronville early Wednesday morning created an electrical short, which started the fire.

Location sustained storm damage in May

According to a May 13 statement at its website, CPI’s Saronville location sustained damage to two of its grain bins in storms.

Contractors assessed the damage and CPI is working on options for clean-up and rebuilding.

"We’re confident most of the work will be finished before fall harvest, so our customers should not be affected," said the release.

"With the ongoing supply chain issues, we will also be devising plans to handle the grain if necessary."
