French pet food manufacturer Saga Nutrition has partnered with packaging supplier Mondi to introduce recyclable mono-material bags for its dry pet food products, replacing traditional multi-material plastic packaging.
Launched in October 2024, the new packaging is part of Mondi’s re/cycle portfolio and was developed to meet internal circularity benchmarks as well as CEFLEX recycling guidelines. Known as the re/cycle FlexiBag, the solution offers high-barrier protection against moisture, fat, and odor, and is available in sizes starting at 3 kilograms.
“This collaboration with Mondi is a key milestone in our sustainability journey,” said Jérôme de Solliers, CEO of Saga Nutrition. "By transitioning to recyclable mono-material packaging, we’re contributing to a circular economy while maintaining the high quality our customers trust."
Mondi noted the switch aligns with growing consumer demand for sustainable packaging in the pet food sector. “We are excited to work with Saga Nutrition to deliver packaging that truly supports a circular economy when it comes to pet food,” said Olivier Werbrouck, regional sales consumer flexibles France at Mondi.
Saga Nutrition, which employs 30 people and produces a full range of dry dog and cat food, will mark its 25th anniversary in 2025.
