The problem of not having enough propane to dry the wet grain coming out of fields is being felt across the entire Midwest, reports AgriNews.
Two of Prairie Central Co-op's nine elevators use propane to fuel their grain-drying systems.
Mark Heil, general manager of Prairie Central Co-op, Chenoa, IL, told AgriNews that while one of those elevators is close to being finished with harvest, the other is only around half done.
The co-op has not received a supply of propane for several days, which inevitably impacts the farmers who are moving grain to elevators for drying and storage.
