CSX Corp. reported record quarterly revenue of $3.94 billion for the second quarter of 2026, a 10% increase from the same period last year.
The railroad operator posted net earnings of $1 billion, or $0.54 per diluted share, compared with $829 million, or $0.44 per share, in the second quarter of 2025. Operating income reached $1.51 billion, up 17% year-over-year, while the operating margin expanded 240 basis points to 38.3%.
Total volume of 1.68 million units for the quarter was 6% higher than second quarter 2025. Intermodal led growth with a 9% increase. Revenue gains came from increased fuel surcharge revenue along with higher volume and pricing across merchandise, intermodal and coal.
“Our railroaders successfully managed substantial volume growth while maintaining a consistent focus on safety and productivity, which allowed us to deliver improved financial performance,” said Steve Angel, president and chief executive officer.
