KFDA's Madison Fisher reported on demolition and restoration work at the Skyland Grain elevator following a March explosion that injured five employees.
The grain handling facility, which serves farmers across four states, is coordinating demolition efforts with government agencies, safety experts and engineers.
“We are looking forward to receiving corn this harvest, and we are planning to rebuild part of our facilities in order to continue to serve area farmers,” a Skyland spokesperson said in an email.
Officials are currently testing water trapped in the facility’s basement to ensure safe disposal. The basement was used to move grain throughout the elevator.
