Cargill’s Animal Nutrition and Health business has opened a new retail feed facility in Granger, Washington, expanding its manufacturing footprint in the Pacific Northwest to meet growing demand from ranchers and farmers.
The state-of-the-art facility features extensive automation including AI-based bag sealing assurance, automated bag check weighing, ultra-low tolerance mixing systems and pedestrian sensing equipment throughout production lines.
“Our presence in Granger is in response to the growing demand for animal feed in the west, as the trend of ranching and farming continues to rise,” said Phil Graham, managing director of Cargill Animal Nutrition & Health North America. “We look forward to partnering with current and future ag retailers as the industry continues to grow.”
The facility will produce and package 120,000 tons of animal feed annually while creating 21 new jobs in the local community. Company officials note the strategic location will eliminate approximately 2 million truck miles and 5,000 tons of CO2 emissions each year.
Built on the same site as Cargill’s existing bulk dairy feed mill, the standalone operation includes pellet mills, packaging lines, warehouse space and employee facilities. It will produce various feed forms for multiple species including equine, poultry, sheep, rabbits and wildlife.
The Granger team will manufacture Cargill’s retail brands including Nutrena, Loyall Life, Black Gold and SafeChoice for distribution throughout the region.
Mark Schmitt, president and CEO of D&B Supply, praised the development: “This new facility in Granger isn’t just an investment in infrastructure—it’s an investment in our future. It strengthens our ability to serve the Pacific Northwest and supports our business growth.”
