President Trump's recent Executive Order Declaring a National Energy Emergency has opened the door for year-round sales of E15 gasoline, a move that has been warmly welcomed by Growth Energy, the nation's largest biofuel trade association. The order directs the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to consider issuing emergency fuel waivers to allow E15 sales throughout the year, addressing potential temporary shortfalls in the national gasoline supply.

Emily Skor, CEO of Growth Energy, expressed enthusiasm for the President's action, stating, "President Trump is already taking steps to make E15 available year-round. Put simply, E15 saves consumers money, drives investment in America's rural communities, and decreases our dependence on foreign energy resources."

The biofuel industry sees this move as a significant step towards energy independence and rural economic growth. E15, a fuel blend containing 15% ethanol, has been restricted from sale during summer months due to concerns over its higher volatility compared to standard gasoline blends.

Skor emphasized the broader implications of this decision, noting, "We're glad to see that homegrown biofuels are a part of President Trump's efforts to unleash American energy dominance." She also called for legislative action to solidify this change, urging Congress to "swiftly approve legislation to permanently allow the year-round, nationwide sale of E15."

This executive order aligns with the Trump administration's focus on domestic energy production and could potentially provide a boost to American farmers and ethanol producers. However, the move may face challenges from oil industry groups concerned about market share and potential infrastructure issues.

As the situation develops, Growth Energy has pledged to work closely with the Trump Administration to expand access to E15, viewing it as a more affordable fuel option for American consumers. The biofuel industry now awaits the EPA's response and potential congressional action to determine the long-term future of year-round E15 sales.
